Mrs. Bovey

Evelyn Bovey has a teaching degree and bachelor’s degree in art. With 21 years of teaching experience in the DOE, she has taught special education (PreK-Grade 6) and regular education (Grades K-3). She was the Student Services Coordinator at Palolo Elementary School for six years and has also taught at Holy Nativity School (Grade PreK-2) for three summers. She taught at Kilauea Ohana Playschool from 2012-2015. Teaching preschool is her passion and she is happy to be back teaching at KOP.

She loves to engage the little ones in learning through exploration and play, art and music, STEM, thematic units, and enriching experiences. She plans to use a research-based, social-emotional learning curriculum, “Choose Love”, at KOP this upcoming school year. She took the initiative to bring "Choose Love" to Palolo Elementary School and it was successfully implemented school-wide this past year in Grades PreK-5. "Choose Love" emphasizes the simple, universal teachings of courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion in action. The lessons are divided into these four units, which create a formula for choosing love.
